Enhancing Marine Litter Management in the Philippines

A collaboration towards a thriving Manila Bay.

Through the development of more effective marine litter monitoring, deepening our understanding of the marine litter problem, and ultimately the the design and execution of impactful, cost-effective policies and management practices to address marine litter in Manila Bay, My OSEAN Mission aims to ignite active volunteerism, engagement and influence positive behavioral change towards marine litter in the Philippines.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM), OSEAN, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources (DENR) - NCR and Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, and CORA lead #MyOSEANMission.

MISSION OBJECTIVES

Monthly clean-ups

Collect marine litter, waste data and insights from the Las Piñas-Paranaque Wetland Park through monthly clean-up activities together with planeteers and partners.

advanced monitoring

Improve understanding of the quantity and type of marine litter generated in Manila Bay through marine litter monitoring surveys.

education campaigns

Promote the importance of preserving Manila Bay and reducing marine litter through prevention and volunteerism, and understanding of the values and services of healthy ecosystem

Our Sea of East Asia Network (OSEAN) is a non-profit, civic group and research institute from South Korea. It is established to protect the marine environment from marine litter pollution through investigation, research, education, policy development, and international cooperation.
